EDGAR ALLAN POE\1809 - 1849 \Nacionalidad estadounidense \Edgar Allan Poe nació en Boston, Estados Unidos, en enero de 1809. Fue escritor, poeta y crítico. Se lo suele presentar como el maestro del relato corto, en especial de cuentos de terror y misterio. \Su vida fue corta y accidentada. Sus padres lo dejaron huérfano de niño y fue criado por John Allan, un hombre de negocios. Estudió en un internado privado en Inglaterra. Después de regresar a Estados Unidos, en 1820, siguió estudiando en centros privados y asistió a la Universidad de Virginia durante un año. Su afición a la bebida y su desgano por el trabajo lo volvieron inconstante tanto académica como laboralmente. Se casó en 1836, con su prima. Publicó algunos textos críticos y también poemas y cuentos. En 1847 falleció su mujer y él mismo cayó enfermo; sobrevivió malamente hasta que murió, en octubre de 1849. Today, the Dupin stories still stand out as unique, utterly engrossing page-turners.\In 19th Century Paris, the maniacal Dr. Mirakle abducts young women and injects them with ape blood in an attempt to prove ape-human kinship. He constantly meets failure as the abducted women die. Medical student Pierre Dupin discovers what Mirakle is doing too late to prevent the abduction of his girlfriend Camille. Now he desperately tries to enlist the help of the police to get her back. |
