Thomas Brussig nació en Berlín en 1965 y creció en la parte oriental de la ciudad. Después de acabar sus estudios en el instituto, trabajó como mozo de mudanzas y como portero en un museo y en un hotel. Estudió Sociología y Dramaturgia, y en 1991 debutó en la escritura utilizando seudónimo. En 1996 se publicó su novela Helden wie wir, que alcanzó un gran éxito y ha sido traducida a numerosos idiomas y llevada al cine, al igual que La Avenida del Sol. En 1999 fue galardonado, con Leander Haussmann, con el premio al mejor guión concedido por el gobierno federal alemán. En la actualidad reside en Berlín.\Thomas Brussig, 1965 in Berlin geboren, wuchs im Ostteil der Stadt auf und arbeitete nach dem Abitur u. a. als Möbelträger, Museumspförtner und Hotelportier. Nach der Wiedervereinigung studierte er Soziologie sowie Dramaturgie und debütierte 1991 unter Pseudonym mit einem Roman. 1996 erschien sein in zahlreiche Sprachen übersetzter und auch als Bühnenfassung erfolgreicher Roman Helden wie wir. 1999 erhielt er - zusammen mit Leander Haußmann - den Drehbuchpreis der Bundesregierung. Thomas Brussig lebt in Berlin Es war einmal in der Sonnenallee...\Dort im Schatten der Mauer leben Micha, Mario, Wuschel, Brille, der Dicke - und Miriam, die von allen geliebte.
